Which details actually tell you something?

Let me put the criteria down before either company is on the page, since a rubric written afterwards has a way of matching whichever site you preferred.

Provenance is first. Does the site state that it synthesizes the material, or does it use the language of supply? Verbs like “supplies,” “sources” and “offers” describe a different position in the chain from “we manufacture,” and neither is disqualifying. What matters is knowing which one you’re dealing with, because that determines who can answer a question about a bad lot.

The name is shared, so to be specific: phoenixpeptide.com belongs to Phoenix Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a Burlingame, California house selling catalog peptides, antibodies, assay kits, peptide libraries and custom synthesis. That’s the site reviewed here.

On provenance, they answer the question outright. The about page states that “Phoenix specializes in manufacturing Peptides, Custom Peptide Synthesis, Antibodies, and Assay Kits,” that “All production is done in-house in the USA,” and gives the laboratory address as “330 Beach Road, Burlingame, CA 94010, USA.” A manufacturing claim with a street address behind it is their strongest row on this rubric.

On testing, the site publishes less. The about page states “Guaranteed Purity of up to >95%,” the custom synthesis page states “Purity > 98%,” and product pages give a specification of “≥ 95%” or “≥ 96%” beside a validation line reading “Exhibits correct molecular weight.” The custom peptide labeling page states that “All labeled peptides come with HPLC analysis standard.” A third-party testing laboratory was not named on the pages reviewed 2026-09-08, and bacterial endotoxin and sterility were not mentioned.

On certificates, the product page footer states “CoA Included: Certificate of Analysis with Every Order” alongside “ISO 9001 Certified Quality Management,” so a certificate travels with the shipment. A public library or a lot-tied document readable beforehand was not listed on the pages reviewed. One limitation worth stating plainly: several pages returned errors for me. The ordering information and shipping pages each returned a 403, and a few product URLs returned 404s while other product pages loaded normally, so documents may well sit behind pages I couldn’t reach.

On provenance, the homepage states products are “Made in the USA” and “Produced in a controlled U.S. facility under strict laboratory standards,” while the about page states the company “supplies research-grade peptides and laboratory materials to researchers, institutions, and analytical labs.” The verb throughout is “supplies.” Whether the company owns that facility, or synthesizes the peptides itself, was not listed on the pages reviewed 2026-09-08.

On testing, the site states “Third-Party Batch Tested” and refers to “independent laboratory testing” and “independent analytical documentation.” The COA library header states that “Every batch is third-party tested for identity, purity, and quantity by HPLC and mass spectrometry,” and a “≥99% Purity Standard” appears across the site. No laboratory was named on the homepage, quality page, FAQ, COA library or product pages reviewed 2026-09-08. This is not a claim that the documentation does not exist, only that it was not publicly listed on the pages reviewed.

The COA library is the part worth describing carefully, because it’s genuinely more than most vendors put up. It states: “Search published analytical records by product or batch number.
