What separates a documented vendor from a confident one?
Before either company gets named again, here’s the rubric, and it’s the same five questions I’d apply to anyone including the people paying for this article to exist.
First, provenance. Does the site say it synthesizes the material, or does it describe sourcing, partnering or distributing? Both answers are legitimate ways to run a business, and neither one tells you anything about purity on its own. What it tells you is who can answer a hard question about a specific lot. A company that made the material can go back to its own batch record. A company that bought it can only forward what its supplier sent.

What wasn’t listed on the Phoenix pages reviewed 2026-09-08: a third-party testing laboratory by name, the analytical method behind the purity figure, mass spectrometry identity confirmation, bacterial endotoxin or sterility results, and a lot-tied certificate viewable before purchase. The about page carries a heading reading “Our Lab Certification” with no certification detail beneath it on the version I loaded. And as I said up top, several product-level and ordering pages returned 403 errors, which is exactly where a reagent house would normally attach a data sheet. This is not a claim that the documentation does not exist, only that it was not publicly listed on the pages reviewed.
Now Certified-PEP. How to verify either supplier yourself
- Email each company and ask for the certificate for the exact lot they’d ship you today, as a PDF, before you order. What comes back, and how fast, tells you more than any page of marketing copy.
- Check whether the laboratory named on the certificate matches the laboratory named on the website, and whether that laboratory’s own site confirms the accreditation claimed for it.
- Read the panel line by line and count the assays. Purity alone, purity plus identity, or the full set including endotoxin and sterility are three different levels of evidence.
- For any blend, ask for the milligram split per component in writing, and confirm the certificate reports each component separately rather than a combined figure.
- Run both vendors through the supplier verification checklist and write down the answers side by side, so the comparison rests on documents rather than impressions.
